6 Gardens for the Med

Inspirations for sustainable and beautiful gardens on the Med

Of course Green Parrot Gardens designs and creates each garden individually. However, each garden should underlie something like a design principle. We have assorted six garden types for your inspiration, which we especially like and find interesting. They are all perfectly adapted for the south of France and the Mediterranean climate – but they are very different in their character.

Exotic/Tropical Garden

Size 150 – 3.000m2

The exotic/tropical garden will appear the best, when its concept is really sustained. Even a small part of a garden can be exotic, but should then be visually separated.

Special Characteristics
Lush and exotic looking plants, large jungle looking leaves, bananas, palm trees, tree ferns, taro, birds of paradise, feijoa, little but large blossoms, gunnera, castorbean, screw palms, pitcher plants, no lawns, ponds, footbridges, large dark stepping stones, old bamboo structures, berries, birds, butterflies, tortoises, soft tropical ground, susurrant water.

People Booking This Style
Adventurers, world travellers, jungle aficionados, plant fans, people who own interior pieces from all over the world, artists, conquerors, hideaway-experts, fans of the Caribbean and the tropics.

Less Convenient
This is nothing for little minds. In order to make such a garden look good, it has to be planted densely and lushly, saving is out of the place here. Growth that suppresses other plants has to be checked every now and then, apart from that it may well grow rampant.

>> Exotic Garden Style

Minimalist Garden

Size 300 – 2.000m2

This very conceptual, reduced garden may appear desolate on larger areas. For this reason, better limit this style.

Special Characteristics
Exact lines and forms, terraces, floors and structures in geometric forms (square, circle, box), straight-cut hedges and shrubs, lawn and alternative green areas, stylish surfaces (marble, granite, varnished precious woods), stern and undecorated structures (pergolas and pool houses), box shaped pools, basins and ponds, implemented lighting, strategically placed trees (solitaires), low hedges, few flowers, staged sculptures and architectural structures, coolness, austerity.

People Booking This Style
Owners of modern and minimalist villas, people with an appreciation for representation, admirers of the principle of omission, connoisseurs of materials, fans of aesthetic calm.

Less Convenient
A minimalist garden must always appear perfect, otherwise the whole impression is lost. All surfaces, and structures must appear spotles always. This constantly calls for attention and care.
