Questions on Garden Design on the Côte d’Azur

I want a designed garden. Where do you start?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Contact us today and we’ll organise a meeting with you as soon as possible.

Seeing your garden through the eyes of professional garden designers and gardeners will help you to find out what you would like to do in your garden, which style you would like to see – and most importantly – how to get there.

We’ll be happy to have a good look at your garden and listen to your wishes and ideas – or garden problems, if there are any. If you like, we can go through a set of questions, which will allow us to get a better picture of what you have in mind.

Of course we will be happy to explain the garden design process to you and answer related questions, you might have.

What kind of garden designs can you do?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

We are not limited to a specific garden style. We try to design or redesign every garden with the same care for an individual and unique style.

We work along a design process, to get the best possible idea of what you would like to do in your garden and which style would fit your personality, lifestyle, house and interior design.

We are very happy to work with any material, photo, book or magazine which you would like to provide.

Please see our landscape / garden design section for more information

Is your work similar to the work of an interior designer?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Yes, that is a very good comparison. Like her we will do a lot of consultation work before doing any designs.

We will

  • measure and assess your garden’s inventory
  • imagine your new garden, draw it up, do different versions of the same section,
  • prepare mood boards or ‘look-and-feels’ for you,
  • contact manufacturers, make sure they will realise objects or constructions according to your decisions and our designs,
  • work together with architects and craftsmen,
  • administrate the installation of a garden or be practical part of it,
  • do a lot of organisational work for you so you don’t have to worry about it.

Do you create garden art and exterior decorations?
Who manufactures these things?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

We will create bespoke designs according to your wishes for many objects and structures, including water features, sculptures, large vases and decorative planters, garden illumination, lamps, wind screens, pergolas, mosaics and more.

While our strength is creating new art and designs for gardens, we rely on the best possible materials and craftmanship for their realisation, in order to meet our clients’ high expectations.

We therefore work together with selected manufacturers from different European countries.

Most of the gardens look all the same. Can you do something special?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Yes, we can. That’s why we’re here. (We too noticed that most gardens show the same plants.)

Most gardens are installed by gardeners, who are used to simple maintenance jobs.

Often gardens are installed with a high maintenance ratio in mind. Lawns and hedges e.g. are very high maintenance and deliver nothing in regards to their design value. They need constant attention, have a high water consumption and keep workers busy. That is not very sustainable.

But if a limited plant palette or a lawn are exactly what you are thinking of, we can still apply an inventive and new design, which can look very different and cool.

Using the means of spacing, shapes, proportions, plant choice and many more factors can add a lot of interest. And by the way, there are natural no-grass alternatives to lawns, that result in a lot less maintenance.

Do you design gardens with minimal plantings?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Yes.

We have developed various methods, where e.g. shapes, mounds and a set of specific very low maintenance plants come together to form a new and very sophisticated garden design, which is adaptable to classic and contemporary gardens as well. This style goes very well with different forms of Mediterranean, modern and Asian gardens.

These “shaped scapes” also have another advantage: we can slowly “fill and furnish” them over the course of several years, if you wish to stretch your garden investments.

Can I have exotic looking plants in my garden?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Yes.

Many plants that seem ‘exotic’ from their leaf structure, their growth habit, their greens or their flowers are hardier than people think.

The ones that are not, can easily be overwintered in a greenhouse or conservatory.

Even if some frost damage happens every once in a while, there are many plants on our ‘exotic gardens list’ that will happily and quickly recover after a minor frost in Mediterranean regions.

We are specialists in exotic and foliage gardens and love creating gardens where lush and colourful plantings have their moments.

We also love cool and foliage-oriented gardens with a contemporary or Asian twist.

Would you order plants from abroad?

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Yes.

We have a network of plant suppliers in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy.

Of course we source plants from local suppliers. But in order to realise more sophisticated designs that often involve special species, it can be necessary to source plants from other countries than France.

I want a decorative garden, but also love fruit and veg.

>> [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

You can have both. We love to create innovative kitchen gardens!

If your property is large enough we can plan a fruit and veg garden in an area that seems suitable in terms of soil, aspect and weather exposure.

But a fruit and veggie garden can be designed in a very stylish and even contemporary way as well.

Even formal plantings can be done with fruit trees and shrubs. Vegetables are coming back to the ornamental garden design.
